GUITAR FESTIVAL ON THE TWELVE STRINGS
The guitar festival "On the Twelve Strings" was created at the initiative of a guitarist and teacher Pavel Steffal in 2007, who felt inspired by the antique, magical and charming space of the old Dominican cloister premises in the Piaristicke Square in the town of České Budějovice. The festival gradually became known to its listeners under the banner of the organizing classical guitar duo Steffal&Kümmel. The form of the festival was shaped by the cooperation of dramaturge Josef Korda, Silvie Vojíková Žatecká, Jaroslava Steffalová, Emanuel Kümmel a Štěpánka Kotrbová.
"Our festival has always strived to present to the listeners the best of classical guitar music and top performers of the Czech classical guitar scene. We have presented a number of great players from abroad and we hope we will succeed in doing so in post-covid seasons as well. The aim of our endeavour is to bring to the listeners, elementary art school as well as conservatoire students good chambre music, which is not a common occurrence on the stages of the regional concert halls. I am thankful for the support of the City of České Budějovice and the South Bohemian Region and, last, but not least, our thanks go to our partners for their financial support and help essential for the realisation of this unique music project", says the festival founder Pavel Steffal.
